The American Association of University Women Colville Branch promotes equity for women and girls and supports the national AAUW's mission.
[edit] What We Do
- Activities: Monthly meetings from September to June on a variety of topics to include women's health and travel.
- For Example: One recent meeting included a "When I was your age..." panel that discussed aspects of being a university-educated woman and responded to a series of questions. Participants in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s responded.
- Annual Garden Tour: Was Saturday, June 14th, at seven gardens in the Colville and Kettle Falls area. Tickets were sold by the Colville Chamber of Commerce, Hedrick's Nursery, and Wynne Street Nursery in Colville; Meyers Falls Market in Kettle Falls; The Front Porch in Arden; and Valley Drug in Chewelah. Rural Resources provided bus transportation to the gardens. The tour was successful with $1900 raised for scholarships to local area high school girls and women returning to college.
- Annual Holiday FUNdraiser: Proceeds go to AAUW's Educational Foundation.
- Annual Coffeehouse Fundraiser: Usually held in November, this fun event with performances by local musicians and singers supports both local scholarships and AAUW's Educational Foundation.
