Manga is an increasingly popular form of graphic novel (i.e. comic book). This page is a guide to the Libraries of Stevens County manga collection.

The guide is in alphabetical order by title of the series. Volume 1 of each series is hyperlinked to the library catalog. For the rest of the series, click on the author's name once you get to the catalog. Enjoy!

He teams up with an ex-cop, a beautiful jewel thief, and a very peculiar little girl. But as the underworld gets dangerous once again, the Black Cat and his friends find themselves drawn back into the fight. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

Ichigo Kurosaki can see ghosts. He can also deal with them - he's been given the power to get rid of ghosts that won't pass on into the afterlife. Great artwork and a fun story. Think of it as Ghostbusters with a katana. Rated T for Teen.

In the future, computers look like people. These persocoms have special fuctions and are very expensive, so why did Hideki find a pretty persocom named Chi in his dumpster? When he takes her home, he finds that there may be more to her story than she's letting on. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

A bored, brilliant teenager named Light finds a notebook left by a rogue death god. When Light writes any name in the book, the person in question drops dead. Light sets out on a mission to kill off all the criminals of the world. Soon, the cops are on his tail and the game gets complicated. Light's a rather twisted hero in this interesting, tangled story. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

When Daisuke Niwa turns 14, he inherits a strange curse. Whenever he sees the thing he most desires, he turns into the legendary thief, Dark. And when Dark sees what he most wants, he turns back into Daisuke. The only way to end the curse is for Daisuke to win the heart of Risa, the girl he loves most. But how can Daisuke win Risa's heart when he turns into someone else every time he sees her? Rated T for Teens.

A young writer attends her first anime convention with her artist boyfriend. How much can happen over one weekend? Plenty. This is a hilarious look at all the drama that can happen at a con. Rated T for Teens.

Equal parts science, magic, and art, alchemy is part of the world that Edward and Alphonse Elric live in. As young boys, Ed and Al dabbled in a forbidden alchemical ritual and the costs were severe: Ed lost his arm and leg while Al became nothing more than a soul trapped in a suit of metal. Only the legendary Philosopher's Stone can restore them now, and the brothers set out to find it in this fascinating manga. Rated T for Teen.

A young girl dreams of becoming a singing star in this cute series. Rated T for Teen.

A girl falls into a book and finds herself the heroine of an adventure set in ancient China. As the priestess of a nation, she must gather warriors to her side and lead them in a battle to save their country. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

In return for a business loan of 50 million yen, the prestigious Kamiya family gave their daughter Haine away to the Otomiya family. Haine, now an Otomiya, is appointed to the student council of the exclusive Imperial Academy, a private school for the aristocracy. Even though Haine is of proper lineage to be on the council, she finds herself struggling to find her place among the many secrets of its elite members, especially those of the president who holds her heart - Shizumasa Togu, aka "the Emperor." Tonpopo (Dandelion) is accepted at a posh Tokyo prep school. Her easy-going ways soon are at odds with the snobby students at her new school, but Tonpopo is determined to make friends - even if she has to break some rules to do so. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

On her 15th birthday, Kagome falls down a magic well and finds herself in medieval Japan. Her fate, it seems, is tied to the Shikon shard, which has been shattered. With the help of a half-demon named Inu Yasha, and a host of friends, Kagome must collect the pieces of the shard before the monsters and demons of Japan use the shard to destroy the world! Kilala dreams of being like a Disney Princess, but thinks she is far too clumsy and mischievous to be like them. Then a series of strange events - a sleeping prince, a kidnapping, and a magical tiara - throw Kilala into the realm of Disney and on to a crazy adventure. Rated Y for Youth.

One day a mysterious force causes Sora to gain a special weapon known as the Keyblade. He fights some weird monsters and gets transported to a strange town. Meanwhile, Donald and Goofy leave their castle to search for the chosen one who holds the "key" to saving the world. Sora meets up with Donald and Goofy and they join forces to search for Sora's missing friends and Donald and Goofy's lost king. Rated Y for Youth.

Najika left the rural orphanage she knows as home to attend Seika Academy in Tokyo in the hopes of finding a boy who touched her heart years earlier. Nobody in her class thinks she should be there except two brothers, Daichi and Sora, who recognize Najika's magical talent for cooking. Rated T for Teen.

When Kanade touches someone, she sometimes sees glimpses of that person's future. Arou has the opposite gift: when he touches someone, he sees glimpses of that person's past. When they first meet, the two don't quite see eye to eye. Kanade wants to use her gift to keep bad things from happening to people; Arou thinks people should just be left alone. Together, the two of them must learn how to live in a world of people "blindfolded" to everything but the present. Rated E for Everyone.

When Keitaro Urashima fails his entrance exams to get into Tokyo University for the second time, his parents kick him out of the house. Fortunately, his grandmother agrees to take Keitaro as the caretaker of her Hinata Lodge, which is actually a girls dorm. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

When 12-year-old Ritsuka discovers a message from his brother Seimei that he was murdered, Ritsuka joins forces with Soubi to find Seimei's killer and uncover the truth. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

When all the senior police officers in Japan are targeted for assassination, Tokyo cop Kyoji Kido agrees to help in the investigation. But this time, the lone fighter is been given a partner: a lethal teenage girl named Kasumi. Kasumi was once part of the terrorist group behind the recent attacks - but who is she really? And more importantly, can she be trusted? Rated T+ for Older Teens.

In the 11th year of Meiji (think 11 years after The Last Samurai), in the middle of Tokyo, this tale begins.... A hit anime series, Rurouni Kenshin is beloved by fans around the world for its mix of historical detail, spectacular battles and, of course, romantic comedy. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

Between school and her boring job as a secretary, Nicole's only enjoyment is dreaming up fairy tales. Wanna-be player Josh finds Nicole an interesting challenge, because unlike most girls, she won't give him the time of day. Nicole soon finds herself torn between her mixed feelings toward Josh and her desire to write her story. Will she ever sort out her life - either the real or imagined one? Trigun is equal parts western, sci-fi fantasy, and slapstick comedy. Or, as the book jacket so eloquently reads: Deep space planet future gun action!! You gotta love the hero Vash, as he runs from one troublesome situation to another in a bullet-hole shredded trenchcoat. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

Humans and vampires have been at war for ages, but now a new warrior has appeared on the scene. Joining forces with a young novice nun is a mysterious messenger from the Vatican, who may just be the key to saving mankind. Rated T+ for Older Teens.

Sakura and Syaoran return! But they're not the people you know. Sakura is the princess of Clow--and possessor of a mysterious, misunderstood power that promises to change the world. Syaoran is her childhood friend and leader of the archaeological dig that took his father's life. They reside in an alternate reality . . . where whatever you least expect can happen--and does. Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the day class and the night class. While the day class students are all human, the night class students are all vampires. Yuki Cross, the headmaster's adopted daughter, and Zero Kiryu, the son of a vampire-hunting clan, are the guardians of the school. It is their job to keep the day class and night class students separated. But this simple arrangement is about to fall apart: Yuki is in love with the president of the night class, and Zero is about to become what he most hates.... Yusuke is a jerk. He's mean, he's short tempered...but then he unexpected dies saving the life of a young child. Death (who's kind of cute) comes to inform Yusuke that hell is full just now - they weren't expecting him to act so selflessly anyway. And he's not quite ready for heaven. Yuskue is left as a ghost, given the chance to prove himself worthy of a second chance at life. Rated T for Teens.
