The Colville Youth Commission is an organization whose purpose is to give youth a strong, positive voice within the community.

The CYC is about to meet again for the 2007-2008 school year. Next meeting is Oct. 8 at 6pm at Colville High School staff room. We are looking for new members! Call Deborah at the Park and Recreation Department, 509-684-6037, for more details.

[edit] What We Do

The Colville Youth Commission (CYC) assists with advising and making recommendations regarding policies, programs, planning, budgets, staffing and other matters relating to the quality of life of Colville area youth.

  • Mission Statement: A Voice for Youth.
  • Activities: The CYC hosts several events, including Music Fest, Summer Fest, and the Colville Youth Awards.
  • Upcoming Events:
    • Music Fest (time and place TBA)
    • Summer Fest (Rendezvous Weekend (1st weekend in August) every summer).
    • Colville Youth Awards - recognizing teen achievement - mid-spring

[edit] Who We Are

  • Membership Requirements: The Commission consists of 12 members of the Colville community nominated by the Mayor and appointed by the City Council for a two-year term. The Commission is comprised of: one member of the City Council; seven teens (13-19 years of age); and four other citizens.
  • Meetings are open to the public - if you have a concern, idea, or just want to see what we are about, drop by. For information on how to become a member, contact Deborah at the Parks and Recreation Department (contact info below).

  • Place: Colville High School staff room (for now - we will be meeting in Heather's Fairytale Bakery when they open)
  • Time: 6pm, 1st Monday of every month
  • Bring: Yourself and any ideas.
