[edit] History

"Yep Kanum" is a Colville Indian phrase meaning "a day for fun under the sun." It was a multi-day festival held in the summertime where people got together for games and to trade goods.

(This is what we at the library remember from when we researched this question before. If you have something else to add, please do so!) :)
